Community / Public Events
The team will be conducting lectures, touch-and-feel sessions with their equipment and a mini exhibition as Snow City, Nov 25 - Dec 10. These include illustrated lectures on Sunday 26th, Dec 3rd and 10th.

The team made an appearance at Brands Essence of Chicken (new product) launch in October.

Training
The team has been undergoing physical and conditioning evaluation at Singapore Sports Council's sports medicine centre. Current programme (subject to modifications) for the Chile Jan (Dec/30 – Jan/24) 2001 trip cover… weights twice weekly; cardio/endurance twice weekly; technical session once a week (optional). Each member of the team will have a personalised training schedule.

Latin-America

Gil Piekarz ( Brazil ) and Jorge Cambiaso ( Argentina ) are conducting long cardio workouts as well as a recent long weekend endurance event on Pico Parana, a mountain near Curitiba, Brazil. Fundraising efforts are ongoing and Gil is making a presentation to a business association this week. Unfortunately, aside from soccer, tennis and F1 motor racing, sponsorship for other events is less successful in these countries

Chile 2001
The Chile trip is the last warm-up climb before Everest in March 2001. Objectives include Ojos del Salado, 6880m, the 2nd highest peak in the Americas. The climb is in the spectacular but totally arid Atacama Desert and the summit involves a 60-m rock tower right at the top – challenging climbing with similar obstacles to the North Ridge of Everest next year - strong winds, mixed terrain and some technical ground at the top!

The climb will allow the Singapore climbers to join forces with their Argentinian and Brazilian counterparts. Internet dispatches and a full dry run testing of our equipment by Technical Office Wong Ting Sern will take place.

SPONSORS
We've raised $177,000 in cash and in-kind to date.

Below is an update list of our supporters. Most recently, we confirmed Canon who will be our Official Digital Camera and Camcorder provider for the expedition. Singapore Recreation Club have agreed to provide premises for our media conferences. Singapore Airlines have come in strongly with a 1 tonne baggage allowance and airtickets for next year's climb. The Met Service will help us with updated weather reports. A trial run of this service will be used on our Chile climbs.
