Seems like Grant, my webpage manager is having problems updating. After a 370km ride yesterday to town at the source of the Yangtze river, TuoTuo (4560m), it rained this morning, plastering the peaks over 5000m with a dusting of snow. Tuo Tuo is a truckers stop, but the guesthouse is pleasant. A few sullen Tibetan mastiffs are skulking around. Meals are muslim fare- noodles, mutton and egg drop soup.We hiked to 4960m today to acclimatise, and from the spiny ridge, Roz successfully launched his kite! Hope Grant can insert the photo here soon. Tomorrow we head to the west Longyala Glacier and establish a basecamp at 5200m. Woo-hoo! Ever Upwards! David
